BROKEN MIRROR DAGGER

Broken Mirror Dagger My nose is bleeding  My lips are cracked  My throat is dry  And I'm this close to a panic attack  I look in the mirror  And I see a girl  I don't recognise her  But I know she's lost in the world  She looks so brave  But I know she's broken  Because this kind of fragility  Will never be chosen  They think the world is black and white  But she's somewhere in the grey  Everyone looks at her foreign  And thinks all she does is disobey  They want to send her away  To a land full of disparity  But this is the original her  And that she doesn't need a remedy  They tell her to look at herself  And how sinful she is  They push and lock her inside  On the door, she pounds her fists  They tell her to be grateful for what she has  And without them, she would die  But she regrets coming across them  Without them, she would never have to cry...

A BLOOMING FLOWER - Ft. VIDISHA SHARMA

A blooming flower  I’m a girl  I’m my family’s pride and joy  I’m a flower with imperfections  But I have the right to bloom  I have the right to shine  I’m fragile but important in this world  Please stop. Don’t do this  I’m learning, just like you  I make mistakes, just like you  I’m nothing but a blessing that you fail to cherish and protect  And it’s not okay for this to continue  I’m more than what you see, more than you know  Because without me,  You garden will have no life                                              - Vidisha Sharma

These could be family members, friends, neighbors, employers, and even online friends.   In our country, there is a typical culture of violence. In rural areas the men believe that  girls in Western clothes are immoral, and that they can be harassed because they are as...
